Description
WANYITA
Moans of pleasure… evidence of murder…
George Bahati is a Ugandan lawyer returning from London when an unexpected encounter with Veronica Magara changes the course of his life. What begins as a chance meeting between two strangers quickly develops into an intense romance, filled with desire, humour and the promise of a future together.
Then their plane crashes.
Stranded in a remote forest, George and Veronica must fight to survive amid wreckage, death, hunger, fear and the wilderness. Their ordeal brings them closer, transforming a fleeting attraction into something neither expected. Against the odds, they survive and return to Uganda determined to begin a new life together.
But survival has its own price.
When Veronica suddenly dies, George’s grief turns into horror when the police arrive at his door and arrest him for rape and murder. The evidence appears damning. His DNA is found on Veronica’s body. Witnesses tell seemingly convincing stories. A medical examination raises questions about what happened. And a single word—“Wanyita”, meaning “You are killing me”—threatens to become the State’s most powerful piece of evidence against him.
George finds himself on trial for the death of the woman he loved.
But this is no ordinary trial. As the proceedings unfold, George confronts a justice system in which procedure can be ignored, evidence can be manufactured, witnesses can be rehearsed and the courtroom can become a theatre where the verdict seems written before the evidence is heard.
Defending himself with the law he once practised, George must fight to expose the truth before the machinery of justice crushes him.
WANYITA is an audacious erotic legal thriller about desire, survival, death and the search for justice. It asks unsettling questions about the reliability of evidence, the abuse of judicial power and what happens when the institutions entrusted with discovering the truth become part of the deception.
Because sometimes the dead have more to say than the living.
