Kikuyu Forktales
Kikuyu Folktales includes 18 traditional folktales which are complimented by a robust section dedicated to discussing their unique context, history and interpretations.
The aim of this work is to explore the nature of folktales: to expose the didactic and humorous qualities that lie hidden behind the apparently simplicity of tales. This is achieved though the examination of some of the literary qualities of that characterize the tales, their (narrative) techniques employed, the form into which they are cast, and the very high degree of sophistication which can be traced in the themes and manipulation of these themes.
