Brothers in Arms
“In Brothers in Arms, Patrick Njoroge shares defining moments from his leadership of Kenya’s central bank, showing how central banks can and must communicate with courage, clarity, and care to advance stability and inclusion – lessons from the front lines of Kenya’s dynamic fnancial transformation.”
Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank
and former Managing Director of the IF
“In Brothers in Arms, Patrick Njoroge offers a thoughtful and courageous reflection on what it means to lead a central bank with integrity, empathy, and conviction. His words remind us that monetary policy is not only about instruments and targets, but about trust, accountability, and service to the public. Through these pages, he captures the essence of principled leadership – one that values people as much as price stability. After all, this is Africa – we are for Ubuntu (humanity).”
Lesetja Kganyago, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank
Brothers in Arms captures a refreshing trait of Patrick Njoroge’s tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya-his clear and direct communication style that contrasts with the traditionally ambiguous approach of central bankers, and always advocating for the public’s understanding and benefit. It reveals his commitment to prioritizing ordinary citizens over profit, championing transparency, fairness, and the transformation of the banking sector and society.
Brothers in Arms is essential reading for those in banking and public service.
