THE AMERU HISTORY AND THE RISE OF NJURI-CHEKE:
This is a fascinating account of a book that unravels facts of historical origin of the Ameru of Kenya, a subject or ınquiry a one not properly understood by many scholars. In that connection, the book captures in a special way the rise of the community’s traditional government, the Njüri-Ncheke of the Meru people of Kenya.
In a systematic way, the author examines the institution’s formation, its principles and norms up too the present time. These are particulars mainly unknown to the indigenous community itself; leave alone the keen historian of Meru anthropology. Generally, while the Njüri institution stands forthe traditional government and the court of the people, the information provided ought to be an exemplary feat of accomplishment gotten from indisputable sages of indigenous knowledge. The book is a record of scholarly material of a broad-based research work of several years. Overall, the book is meant for tertiary colleges and universities, besides its general readership by those others wishing to acquire a broader scope of knowledge about Meru heritage.
