PROFESSOR BETHWELL A. OGOT is Emertus Professor of History at Masero Uriversity where he also founded the institute of Research and Postgraduate Sadies and held the UNESCO
Chair for Higher Education in Atrica. He was the first Deputy Vice-Chancelor of the Universiy of Nairobi from 1970-1973. He has taught at Makerere Uriversity, the University of Nairobl and at Kenyatta University. He was President of the
• international Scientilic Committee for the preparation of UNESCO’s Eight Volume General
History of Africa and a member of the Editorial Board of the international Commission for UNESCO’s History of Humanity. His latest works include Who, if Anyone Owns the Past? (2010), Kenyans, Who are We? (2013), History of African Civilizations in the Nile Valley (2015), History of Nairobi 1899-2012 (2020), and Fountain of Knowledge: History of the University of Nairobi, 1952-2020 (2021)
